I have been thinking about leaving GitHub for a long time. That started when Microsoft bought GitHub in June 2018.
At that time I created an account on GitLab and decided to use GitHub only as a mirror for my own repositories. I keept working on forked repositories on GitHub.
When GitHub introduced AI (no, there is no intelligence in that I), I started again thinking about leaving and moved it aside.
But with this article on Businessinsider where the CEO of GitHub, Thomas Dohmke tells developers that they are usesless and not needed anymore, when they don’t adopt to the AI con.
I will have no mercy for companies going that whay when the beloved AI drills security holes into their software. Because what is left of then so called software developers will use AI to fix the failures implemented by AI, they will have no knowlegde how to really fix the problems, as they have never learned to code themselves.
I decided that I will completely leave GitHub and will delete my account and all repositories. An organisation created by me where nothing has been done for more then ten years is already gone.
That Dohmke guy can put his Copilot gimmick where the sun does not shine.
The deadline for leaving GitHub is 2025-08-15.

In the future you will find my personal repositories on GitLab and on [Codeberg](https://codeberg.org/sjstoelting].
The PostgreSQL extension pgsql_tweaks becomes a new home on Codeberg in an organisation on its own where other people are invited to become members and to help to extend it.
The new home is codeberg.org/pgsql_tweaks/pgsql_tweaks.
In addition this company, ProOpenSource OÜ, will become a member of the Codeberg e.V. soon, the membership has been applied for. Codeberg e.V. is the organisation behind codeberg.org.
